Won-Door Corporation Story
Won-Door Corporation was founded in 1962 by the Smart family. Won-Door began by manufacturing the world’s most durable acoustically rated folding partitions – known today as our DuraSound model.
In the late 1960’s, founder Jay Smart began fire testing acoustically rated folding partitions. By the late 1970’s Won-Door Corporation had pioneered the development of the world’s first ever accordion type, fire rated horizontal sliding door. It was in 1977 that this accordion fire door, now known as Won-Door FireGuard, passed two fire tests at Underwriters Laboratory culminating more than a decade of fire testing and research by the passionate team at Won-Door Corporation.
In 1979, an installation at the California State Department of Rehabilitation in Sacramento gained widespread support from disabled advocacy groups for the use of the Won-Door FireGuard to create safe staging areas for the disabled in multi-storied buildings.
Today Won-Door Corporation remains the industry leader in horizontal accordion fire doors and is still a family-owned business with family values.

Won-Door Australia Story
Won-Door began manufacturing in Australasia in 1987. Plant and offices were set up in New Zealand where Won-Door manufactured (under licence), supplying DuraFlex and DuraSound aluminium folding partitions to New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands. For over 30 years our DuraFlex and DuraSound model folding partitions have been a trusted solution for area separation (DuraFlex) and acoustically rated area separation (DuraSound). During the 1990’s Won-Door New Zealand supplied Won-Door FireGuard to numerous local projects. However, in early 2012 we had Won-Door FireGuard assessed and approved by BRANZ to AS1530.4:2014 and FireGuard really started to gain momentum in the Australasian market. Won-Door Australia Pty Limited was established in 2013 and supplies DuraFlex, DuraSound and FireGuard model Won-Door’s to the local industry here in Australia. Won-Door FireGuard is now a recognised fire separation solution trusted by leading fire engineers and architects in Australia. Notable projects include Lion Nathan Offices in Sydney Olympic Park, Waggawagga Base Hospital and Ultimo Shopping Centre in Broadway, NSW.
We have our own installers and technicians to look after all Won-Door products, including FireGuard.
